AN.VII.66 | Sakkacca Sutta | It occurs to Saariputta that the various forms of respect are interdependent: 1. monks rely on respect for the Buddha; 2. Dhamma; 3. Sa"ngha; 4. training; 5. meditation; 6. non-recklessness, and; 7. hospitality -- to relinquish unwholesomeness and cultivate wholesomeness. Without respect for the Buddha, the other forms of respect cannot arise -- but those who have respect for the Buddha can be said to have respect for all the other six as well.
