AN.VII.59b | Bhariyaa Sutta | Buddha visits the home of Anathapindika and overhearing quarrelling is informed that the ill-chosen words of Sujaataa ar the cause. The Buddha teaches Sujaataa saying that there are seven sorts of wife: 1. wife like an executioner; 2. wife like a thief; 3. wife like a boss; 4. wife like a mother; 5. wife like a little sister; 6. wife like a friend, and 7. wife like a servant. The Buddha asks which sort of wife Sujaataa would like to be and having heard the definitions she relents and asks to be remembered as a wife like a servant. | 37/197 | Sattaka Nipaata, Unallocated Pa.n.naasaka | A"nguttara | A.iv. |
