AN.IV.187 | Vassakaara Sutta | Vassakaara Brahmin asks the Buddha the following questions: 1. Whether one bad person [asatapurisa] can recognize another; 2. Whether a bad person can recognize a good one [satapurisa]; 3. Whether one good person can recognize another, and; 4. Whether a good person can recognize a bad person. The Buddha replied that in cases 1 & 2 it is impossible, but for cases 3 & 4 it is possible.
