AN.IV.44 Dutiya Kodha Sutta | Dutiya Kodhagaru Sutta The Buddha enumerates four things that entrap people making them unable to gain benefit from the Sadhamma:
1. being entrapped by anger; 2. being entrapped in ingratitude and belittling of others virtue; 3. being entrapped by interest in material gains, and; 4. being entrapped by interest in honours.
Just like a rotten seed, even in good soil, cannot grow -- those who are more involved with other things than with the Sadhamma cannot make proper progress or prosper in the Sadhamma.
