AN.VII.47 Methuna Sutta Pure and unblemished training in celibacy [brahmacariya] consists not merely in attaining from sexual intercourse but also abstaining from: 1. enjoying being rubbed, massaged, bathed or shampooed by women; 2. enjoying lewd jokes, jests and merry-making with women; 3. enjoying staring after women with burning eyes; 4. enjoying to hear the sound of women laughing, talking, singing or weeping; 5. enjoying recollecting the laughs, talks and jests ones has had with women in the past; 6. enjoying voyeurism of the sensual acts of others, and; 7. leading the holy-life with heavenly birth as ultimate aim in life. For as long as one professing the celibate life is still caught up in these traits his celibacy will not be pure and he will not manageo remove himself from old age, death, sorrow, lamentation, pain, resentment and bemoaning.
