A.10_009 | Santa Sutta | A monk who is missing any or all of the following ten virtues will fail to be a source of faith for others: 1. faith; 2. self-discipline; 3. learning (bahusutta); 4. the ability to preach; 5. the courage to preach in public; 6. able to memorize the Pa.timokkha; 7. living in a forest; 8. living in a peaceful place; 9. managing to attain the absorptions (jhaana) that are the source of happiness in the present lifetime, and; 10. managing to attain liberation of mind (cetovimutti) and liberating wisdom (pa~n~naavimutti).
