AN.VII.7 | Ugga Sutta | Ugga is astonished by the worldly wealth of Migaara Roha.neyya but Buddha teaches
that such wealth is endangered by fire, flood, taxation, robbers, enemies and heirs.
The Buddha enumerates seven sorts of spiritual wealth which are not affected by the
above risks, i.e.: 1. faith [saddha]; 2. self-discipline [siila]; 3. shame of evil [hiri]; 4. fear of the consequences of evil [ottappa]; 5. hearing {teachings) [suta]; 6. self-sacrifice [caaga], and; 7. wisdom [pa~n~naa]. |
