AN.IV.30 | Paribaajaka Sutta | Four factors of Dhamma reckoned as ancient, long-standing, traditional, primeval, pure and unadulterated are enumerated as follows: 1. non-covetousness [anabhijjaa]; 2. non-vengefulness [abyaapaada]; 3. right mindfulness [sammaa samaadhi], and; 4. right concentration [sammaa sati]. Some may reproach monastics possessing these virtues saying that having cultivated such a virtue, the opposite traits still remain latent in their minds. However, such a reproach is not justified -- such condemnation is as good as praising covetousness, vengefulness, wrong mindfulness and wrong concentration. | 35/109 | Catukanipaata Pa.thama Pa.n.naasaka | A"nguttara | A.ii. |
