Eventually the Buddha accepted Ghatikaras invitation in preference to the invitation of the king of Benares. So great was the trust of the Buddha in Ghatikaras faith that he would take things from the home of Ghatikara even when he was not there. Once the Buddha took the thatch from the house of Ghatikara to thatch his own, and the house stood open to the sky for three months. However, so great was the faith of Ghatikara, that no rain fell on the house during this time. At that time the bodhisatva was Jotipala who was taken by Ghatikara to hear the Buddhas teaching by force.|
