The Buddha shows by the means of similes, that the pleasures of the senses are unsatisfying and dangerous and should be avoided. Such renunciation brings higher knowledge. Also enumerated are the three channels of karma: 1. deed (kaayakamma); 2. words (vaciikamma), and; 3. thoughts (manokamma) at M.i.373.
