Mahaanidaana Diigha Mahaa Vagga DN.15 D.ii.055ff. 13/165 dependent origination, causality, self, soul Ananda says that the doctrine of events as arising from causes is quite clear to him -- that it only appears deep. The Buddha teaches that it is deeper than he thinks, with description of the paticcasamupada (dependent origination), the idea of self, 7 resting places of cognition (viññanathiti), the two spheres of ayatana and 8 types of deliverance.
