A definition of the good life according to Buddhism is preached. Also enumerated are the four characteristics of the Buddha's manner of teaching (desanaavidhi): 1. elucidation and verification (sandassanaa); 2. incitement to take upon oneself or inspiration towards a goal (samaapadanaa); 3. encouragement (samuttejanaa), and; 4. filling with delight and joy (sampaha.msanaa) at D.i.126.|
