A.10_098 Thera Sutta The following ten qualities, possessed by an elder monk, will bring him contentment: 1. he has been long ordained; 2. he trains himself in self-discipline; 3. he has heard much [bahusuta]; 4. he can memorize the pa.timokkha; 5. he is skilled in settling disputes; 6. has a love of learning and teaching the Dhamma; 7. he is contented with the requisites he recieves; 8. he inspires faith and is restrained as to the senses when visiting residential areas; 9. he is adept in the Four Absorptions, and; 10. he has attained liberation of mind [cetovimutti] and liberation of wisdom [pa~n~naavimutti]. 38/322 Dasaka Nipaata, Dutiya Pa.n.naasaka A"nguttara A.i.
