A.10_064 Avecca Sutta Ten types of people have unwavering confidence in the Buddha -- five while still alive and five only after passing away. Those who have unwavering confidence in the Buddha while still alive are: 1. a stream-enterer with seven remaining births; 2. a "kolangkola" stream-enterer; 3. a stream enterer with one remaining birth; 4. a sakadaagaamin, and; 5. an attainer of arahantship.
Those who have unwavering confidence in the Buddha only after passing away are: 1. a "midway release" non-returner [antaraa-parinibbaayii aanaagamii]; 2. a "reduction of time" non-returner [upahacca-parinibbaayii aanaagamii]; 3. a "without much trouble" non-returner [asa"nkhaara parinibbaayii]; 4. a "with some little trouble" non-returner [sasa"nkhaara parinibbaayii], and; 5. one who goes to the Pure Abodes [uddha.msoto akani.t.thagaamii].
