He must investigate the following conditions in himself: 1. purity of body: 2. purity of speech: 3. freedom from malicious intention: 4. having heard many teachings: 5. having committed the monastic discipline and the teachings to memory.
Furthermore his criticism must possess the five factors of artful speech: 1. to be said at the appropriate time: 2. to be true: 3. to be politely said: 4. to be beneficial: 5. to be said with compassionate intention.
