| AN.VII.50 | Maataa Sutta | Vessava.na overhears Nanda's mother singing and later appears to her praising her and rewarding her that Saariputta and Moggallaana need someone to offer food the next morning. The next day Sariputta and Moggallaana praise her on the wonder of her knowledge, but she says it is the least of the wonders she has experienced: 1. being informed by Vessava.na that Saariputta and Moggallaana were free for invitation; 2. having no disquiet of heart at the execution of her only son; 3. having no disquiet of heart when her husband died and was reborn amongst the ogres [yakkha] and appeared to her; 4. having never trespassed against her husband even in intention throughout their marriage; 5. having never trespassed against her Precepts ever since becoming a lay disciple; 6. having entered upon the first to fourth absorptions, and; 7. having attained release from the Five Lower Fetters [oramabhaagiya sa.myojana]. | 37/146 | Sattaka Nipaata, Pa.thamapa.n.naasaka | A"nguttara | A.iv. | |
