AN.VII.27 Haani Sutta The following seven traits are for the decline of laymen [upaasaka]: 1. omitting to visit monks; 2. omitting to hear Dhamma teachings; 3. omitting to study the higher discipline [adhisiila]; 4. omitting to be inspired to faith by monks already ordained for a short, medium or long time; 5. finding fault with the Dhamma teachings; 6. making merit with monastics outside Buddhism, and; 7. showing respect towards monastics of other religions.
