|AN.IV.45||Pa.thama Rohitassa Sutta||The Buddha is asked by the angel Rohitassa whether it is possible by traveling, to know or see or reach a far end of the cosmos where one does not take birth, age, die, pass away or reappear?" |
The Buddha replies that such and end of the world cannot be known, seen or reached.
Rohitassa says that the Buddha's answer confirms his suspicion because in a former birth as a hermit with psychical powers, he had journeyed for 100 years but failed to reach the end of the world.
The Buddha says that if you require to know: 1. the nature of the world; 2. the origin of the world; 3. the cessation of the world, and; 4. the path leading to the cessation of the world -- you can find the answers here inside this fathom-long body.
