AN.IV.43 Pa.thama Kodha Sutta Pa.thama Kodhagaru Sutta The Buddha enumerates four things that entrap people making them unable to gain benefit from the Sadhamma:
1. being entrapped by anger; 2. being entrapped in ingratitude and belittling of others virtue; 3. being entrapped by interest in material gains, and; 4. being entrapped by interest in honours.
Because they have not involved themselves instead with the practice of the Sadhamma, they cannot prosper and progress in the Sadhamma.
